Does the US Postal Service put packages on your doorstep if they don't fit in your mail box?

also I checked the confirmation and it says it was delivered. So that means the person had to be home or they left it on the doorstep?

It depends if your sender had a signature request placed on the package...but normally they do.

No, they leave you a notice telling you what post office it has been stored at and what hours you can pick it up.

if you have a po box they send you a note to get the box at their offices if not they will mail it to you by hand

They put the package on the door step. I think it's allowed here because I live in a low crime area.
