Does the US have the most laughable electoral system in the free world?

A contributor recently asked whether electors would vote a McCain / Clinton ticket. A number of them said that they would participate in such a cynical. opportunistic abuse. And they think that they are qualified to export democracy around the world! Thank God for the British system.

  1. We have the best, because we are completely open. If someone criticizes the candidates, he does not get his head cut off.And we can say almost anything we like, that is freedom.

  4. Any nation that could re-elect George Bush has got a seriously screwed electoral system.

    As for comparing British and American models - many countries have adopted the Westminster system but no-one copies the Americans.

  6. The USA is a demortatic nation that is democratic in favour of big corporations. The electrol college is made up of the powerful and the ilttle people vote counts for diddly squat. Super delegates rule the results. Then you have the Supreme Court. They need a Parlimentary system to really show all the warts and all. Not Lobbyists who are King makers.

  17. Our Founding Fathers who created our government did not totally trust the people to always make good judgments when it came to voting.  That is why they set up the Electoral College and why originally the Senators were chosen by the state legislatures
