Just curious...I know there are individual bans against nuclear construction in every single state, but is the president capable of using his executive power to lift them?

  1. Not by the constitution he dose not .

  2. No. But Congress does. And frankly I think it's time for US (you and me) to tell the environmentalists it's OK for them to want us not to burn fossil fuels. But shut up and go to work and give us (you and me) a cheaper alternative. Believe me if I had a cheaper alternative I'd never burn another ounce of fossil fuel.

  3. congress would have to pass a federal law

  4. Technically he can't do anything without congress' approval, unless it's for "national security", and I don't think even he has the power. But seeing as nuclear power seems to be the electric provider of the future I wouldn't be surprised to see the federal government legalizing it (federal trumps state unfortunately).

  5. I think it's more that he and Congress show up at the governor's door with a big bag of money,

the Fed tax base being a few times bigger

than the tax bases of all the state governments combined.

Most governors aren't made of stone.

    ;-)

  6. No he would not be able to and you are wrong about every single state since there are new nuclear power plants being planned as we speak.
