  1. ummmm nope, im American as well, but i know u cant use "US DOLLARS" in the Uk......only sterling

  2. No one wants dollars, no shop will take them.

the dollar is worthless here, (they don't even look like real money)

You will need GBP here, don't bring Scottish money to England, it confuses the English,

But The Scotts will take the English money, no fuss.

Bring a credit card (for big purchases and emergencies) an ATM card for Cash - ATMs are everywhere.

Bring GBP (pounds) in cash as a backup.

  3. u have to exchange am afraid..and ur dollars is going to be worth half the pound and things are more expensive especially in london...

  4. Nowhere will take dollars - just pounds

  5. Not everywhere and even if  US Dollars are accepted in large cities , they will exchange USD at a low rate . It's better for you to exchange your US Dollars through a Bank before hand converting those to GBP.That will be advantageous.

  6. wtf? is that a joke? they're called us dollars because they're used in the us. How can anyone be so ignorant?!! im in shock

  7. No, you need to change them into pounds.

  8. What on earth makes you think that the UK would accept US dollars?!  Does the US accept UK pounds?

  9. Err if you are trying to pay in USD think again.

  10. No you cannot pay in US dollars in the UK. You can use Scottish money in England, but not sure vice versa. You will need to exchange US dollars but get Travellers Cheques better as they are insured I think if you lose them or they get stolen. Be careful. Watch your bags, purses, etc, stay in the main streets and not back alleys - just as you would in the US really.

Hope you have a great holiday.

  11. No it will not be okay using US currency in England.

They have different values in money.

And we're not American. We don't take American money.

  12. Ha ha ha ha ha ha haaa

    Pillock!

If I took sterling to the USA would anyone accept it?

    h**l no!

Thankyou, you have made my day.

  13. you need to exchange your money we have our own currency no one will exept dollars here

    enjoy your stay

  14. No US dollers are not accepted everywhere only in huge chain restaurants and stores ie the ones that are American like McDonalds etc. I would do your exchanging over here though as the exchange fpr Dollars is phenomenal

  15. You won`t be able to use them, it would be best if you get UK pounds..........

  16. You have to change the money at the bank and get Sterling, as you can't use US dollars over here.

  17. Nope, nowhere besides banks would accept USD in the UK.

  18. I'm from UK and we don't accept us dollars at all! I would suggest that you change all the money to intend to spend while in the UK to pound sterling, and whatever you don't spend you can always convert it back into dollars at the foreign exchange at the airport

  19. Get about 100 GBP from travelex or through your bank for your immediate needs upon arrival.  Then you can use your ATM card with a four digit pin for more cash in GBP.  Check to see what your daily withdrawal limit is and what it is on weekends.  If $300 a day, you can only withdraw about 150GBP.  And just use your debit card or credit card for most purchases.  There will be a conversion fee, but there is no escaping it.  No need to go to a currency exchange place at all.

  20. nowhere in England takes dollars! its uk sterling only. some places take euros but not all.

remember to bring plenty because everything is double the price here!

  21. nope currency exchange. perhaps a handful of places in london will accept it but best to go with changing your money

  22. You can't pay with dollars in the UK. Pound sterling only I'm afraid! However you can use Scottish and English money in either country. x

  23. I'll take $10 off your hands for free. I'm in the UK.

  24. we will only except payment in sterling

  25. There is nowhere in the U.K that accept US dollars, as a payment method. You will have to use a currency exchange. So you can spend the GBP.

  26. no, very few places take US dollars. For the best rates go to the post office as they dont charge commission for currency exchange

  27. nowhere takes dollars but some places take euros.

  28. You'll be laughed at all the way back to the airport if you try to spend that stuff in the UK.

It's bad enough getting the English to accept a Scottish £5 note, let alone trying to spend dollars.

Change it to real money. Change it back when you go home.

    Have a nice day.

  29. You can withdraw GBP from cash machines.

  30. No. In fact, do not expect anyone to take US dollars outside an airport. The US Dollar is not only a pain in the butt to deal with, but considering the dropping value of the dollar against the pound, it's about as useful as toilet paper.

You'd be better off converting it into GBP. And less people will hate you if you do.

Or if you need something more netural if you plan on going anywhere else in Europe, the Euro is a good choice.
