Question:

Does the Zebra Loach eat Amano Shrimp?

So I have two tanks, one is a ten gallon and one is a fifteen. In the ten gallon I have, among other things, a zebra loach. In the fifteen gallon, I have, among other things, four amano shrimp. The fifteen has a snail problem.

I suppose I could switch the shrimp and the loach back and fourth according to where snails pop up, but I would rather not stress them both out like that.

I heard from the fish store that the zebra loach would eat the amano shrimp. Is this likely? I would really like to add the zebra loach back into the fifteen and keep the shrimp there too...

  1. My local pet store said the same thing. The more I read up on it, the more I found that a lot of people have the same problem losing any sort of shrimp to Zebra Loaches. You can try it, but I would just get a mesh divider so you can keep the in the same tank while you solve your snail problem. Good luck with that too, by the way!

  2. they can usually coexist in the same tank but be cautious however if your fish recover quick from stress like mine it would be best to just switch them around
