  1. Spice is pretty much an acid too, so no, it makes it worse. Drinking milk is your best bet to neutralizing spice because it's way more of a base.


  2. Nope.

    The acids in fruits will not neutralize the heat from spicy foods.  They will actually make the burning sensation worse since fruit based acids themselves in sufficient amounts will cause a pretty bad chemical burn.

    If you're for something to kill the burn from spices try milk, yogurt or bread.  All of these items are pretty good at cooling off a hot mouth.

I am not a cook and don't even like cooking shows but happen to catch one that said if you add lemon to spicy food it will cut down on the acidity so will sugar which is a nicer tasting alternative to me anyway. Always drink water with spicy food even though some say milk or hot tea is better. I think its really up to the individual actually. Spicing up your life huh ?
