  1. The vast majority of AK types do NOT lock to the rear when empty, however, people have made aftermarket magazines that were supposed to be able to hold the slide open when the AK tried to grab the last, nonexistant round

  2. The only AK variant I am aware of with a bolt hold function is the Saiga.  It has a small piece sticking out  in front of the trigger guard which you push in with the bolt back and it will hold the bolt.

  3. No there is no last round hold open on a MAK 90.

I believe there are some magazines made that will hold the bolt open on the last round but as soon as you remove the mag the bolt slams shut so you have to work the charging handle again anyhow.

It's basically just a fact of life that you have to work the charging handle again when you replace a mag in an AK. The trade off is less moving parts to break for easier manufacturing and better reliability .

  4. By original design, the Kalashnikov pattern rifles do not have a last shot bolt open mechanism. There are some after market mods, but they are pretty shoddy.
