Question:

Does the airforce pay for college?

I'm in the hunt for college, and I was wondering if the air force would pay. If so, do they pay for all of it, part of it, do I have to pay them back, does it have to be in certain fields or certain colleges, etc. Any information anyone has on the subject would be much appreciated.

  1. The military has a what's called the G.I. Bill which means when you sign up for service they will take small amounts of your paycheck during the time your a soldier and when your enilistment is over that money goes to pay for your schooling.  Talk to a recruiter about it and they will have plenty of details and options.

  2. Read this news article about the new GI Bill going into effect next year.  It's not "the Air Force", as such--it's the U. S. government that pays educational benefits for veterans of military service.

  3. You can contact an Airforce recruiter near you for all this info and go to the site, but I def. think its a good idea to ask just normal ppl also. If you go to college and take out loans and get your BSN then join they will give you up to 20 grand back to pay off loans if you join right out of HS they will help you pay after your done with training or service in what ever you speacial in usually or if you go in the reserves they will help with your cost of living and college but you have to sign up with them for four years after. They take good care of you. Nd its one of the best branches I feel and most competitive to get in But DO NOT join just for the cost of college its something you should actually enjoy doing if you join theres alot of diff. oppertunites dont do something you going to hate theres no turning back. Nd theres lots of ways to get help with collge taking out loans is not all that bad if you know your goin to graduate and make good money!

  4. Just waste 4 years of your life for them to pay a tuition (Thats it just the tuition and the odd grant once a month) and continue serving them while you attend a 3-4 year college course.

Your best bet is to work for the year and save up to pay it yourself as if your grades slip your taken out of college and made serve the payment out in the Military

  5. They do pay for your college tuition, but check with them to find out if you have to pay it all back. You might not have to.

  6. My son just joined the Air Guard for the same reasons. He needed to supplement his grants and scholarships and the Air Guard is going to do that for him.

This is an excerpt from his guide

"The Kansas Tuition Assistance Program offers tuition assistance for Kansas residents attending approved Kansas vocational schools, community colleges and four-year universities. The amount of the tuition assistance varies from semester to semester. The varying rate is based on the amount of money allocated by the state and the number of people who apply to use the program. Over the past cople of years we have paid between 85% to 100% of tuition costs.

The Montgomery GI BIll is essentially a monthly allowance for individuals who are taking college classes. The amount of the benefit is pro-rated to the number of credit hours and individual is taking. Currently full-time students (12 or more credits) receive $309 a month

Other benefits such as a $15,000 Non Prior Service Enlistment Bonus, $20,000 Student Loan Repayment Plan and the GI Bill Kicker ($350/MO) are available with select jobs. IF you are a Prior Service there may be an opportunity for you to receive a bonus as well. All totaled if you are eligible to use all of your benefits you will be receiving well over $50,000 for college.

Now this is for the Kanasas Air National Guard, however, I am sure that other states, and full time Air Force offer similar packages.

Good Luck to you in this decision, and if you decide to join....Thank you from the bottom of my heart for you service to our country.

  7. All military branches will pay for your college, you just have to dedicate four years to the military...
