  1. They give you a choice, and if your ASVAB is 90 averaged you get a pick of just about everything.

  2. They did for me, 25 years ago. I had a blast at the time. Friend of mine's boy is in for 6 month's now and got the job he wanted. Unless you're very insistent they will put you where they want you. Go ROTC, get educated,  and make more money once you're in service. Good Luck!

  3. Most of your job selection is based on how well you scored and what the needs of the Air Force are at present times. That being said once at MEPs you have a list of jobs you qualify for, You must select 3 you are willing to take and one field. Once you select those three the Air Force then chooses which one you will have, if you go in with one of the four major fields, during BCT you will have a list of jobs which need to be filled and be able to choose your job. All in all it's decided by your scores, You and the needs of the air force, it's not one sided.

  4. No, that is not entirely correct.  You will take the ASVAB and your score will determine what jobs your are eligible for.  Essentially the recruiter will present you with a list of jobs and you will pick from that.  Just make sure that everything is written in your contract before you sign it.
