you can explain in great detail why it has an effect on plant growth and what happens if it has a lot or less light? also, does artificial light affect plant growth differently? how?

  1. Basically the more light a plant gets, as long as carbon dioxide levels and soil nutrients are sufficient they will photosynthesize more. Red light gives best results, green light gives worst results. I have done the spectrum on plants.

UV light is necessary for some plants as well.

  2. sunlight not only affects the growth but so does carbon dioxide, which is why you should talk to your plants. see chloroplasts inside the plant take in as much sunlight as possible, so alot of light is crucial, well depending on the plant. if the plant cant use sunlight to make its own food/energy, it'll die, and the growth of plants deals with how "strong" they are

    does that help?

  3. The amount and duration of sunlight affects plant growth. Plants get their energy for life from photosynthesis which requires light,  carbon dioxide, water ( and, of course, the chlorophyll that makes it all possible. )That is why there is surprisingly productive agriculture in Alaska even thought the growing season is short.

There is artificial light specifically designed for plants ( even different matches for different plants ) where the spectrum is actually more productive for plant growth than ordinary sunlight.
