Does the area you live in affect your acne?

When I'm living at home, a small town in Tennessee, my acne seems to be almost completely gone. I hardly ever have breakouts and am happy with my skin. However, when I go off to college, which is in a big city in Tennessee, my skin seems to get worse almost immediately. Everyone says it's probably stress, but I don't completely believe that. I get stressed at home, too! Could the dirty air, pollution, or the water in the big city be to blame?

  1. In theory yes, things like pollution, humidity, heat, cold air will effect your skin.

  2. the pollution and stuff makes it worse cause it usually makes your skin greasier. and when you live like at a beach it stays away usually cause of the sun. i know from experience cause i live in tn but then i went to florida for awhile and it helped!

  4. dixie_0307, I acne problems starting when I was in high school. I had acne on my shoulders that was embarrasing. I tried Proactiv, Zyporex,  and even the Asso Gold Cleaning Bar with so-so results. I ended up contacting a local dermatologist in New Hampshire. After 6 months almost all of my acne cleared up. I suggest you try finding a local Tennessee dermatologist that can help. http://www.homeacnecare.com/Tennessee-De...
