  1. The Army teaches you how to kill.  That is what the Army teaches you.

Not Bushido.  Not Judo.  Not Karate.

Grappling, why would you grapple in the military?

They created Automatic weapons so they didn't have to give these classes.  Yeh, Pat Tillman might have got some of these classes, but he got shot with a three round burst to his head...by his own guys..

    not much MMA needed there.

  2. the army will teach you the very very basic watered down version of a few things mostly they focus on rear naked choke though and your basic hand to hand combat techniques most of which derived from boxing

  3. the army teaches basic hand to hand and self defence skills.

  4. No, MMA is a sport fighting, well BJJ is good for grappling on ground, but MMA is 0,none, zero self defense, they teach Israeli Krav Maga, well basics of it, if you want to learn advanced Krav Maga you need to go to Israel

  5. why do people keep calling it mma. just call it martial arts. "Does the army teach martial arts skills?"

    you must be a TUFnoob.

  6. i've heard navy seals learn wing chun and jujitsu

    can anyone confirm this

  7. dont listen to those idiots.

yes the US ARMY teaches mma. its called 'combatives'

but it starts with basic brazilian jujutsu, and moves up to wrestling takedowns and muay thai striking as well.

the army doesnt really care how good a fighter you are because ...and i quote "the winner of a hand to hand fight is the guy whos buddy shows up first with a gun"

seriously...go to an army surplus store and buy the combatives manual...its bjj. taught by rorion and royce gracie to people in fort benning, georgia.

  8. Josh, tell Sifu I say hi. Dork.

And I'm pretty sure they teach Combat Krav Maga and BJJ.

Edit- I'm an idiot when the answers are almost the same, they teach BJJ. d**n for a martial artist you lack a lot of discipline. But then again, you're probably a keyboard warrior.

    Cheers.
