Does the aspirin in the "aspirin mask" get absorbed into the blood stream?

Hi, I have tried this aspirin mask on my face: a few pills of uncoated aspirin, few drops of water and a dollop of honey. The mask works very well for me, but I was wondering if it gets absorbed into the bloodstream, and if I should be concerned with the frequent usage of this mask. Thank you

  1. Very little, if any would be absorbed into the bloodstream. I wouldn't do this every day, but I think regular use would be fine.

  2. I am also dying to use this.

No, it does not get absorbed into the bloodstream. You have two layers of your skin: the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is the outer layer onto which the mask is applied. The mask, if scrubbed hard enough and left on for a prolonged amount of time, will soak into the dermis. The bacteria in the dermis will fight against the aspirin to block it from entering the blood stream. (This is also why there are no topical aspirin treatments)

    Hope that answered your question!

    Happy masking.
