Does the bank do this?

I just got my cheque and I need my money now! The bank is rbc My mom once said that I can take my cheque to the bank (the check owners bank) and they can give me cash even if I don't have an account with them. Is this true?

Yes it's true because the bank can find out instantly if there's  money in the account of the person who wrote you the check or not.  You may have to show i.d., but that's about it.
