  1. of course all banks do. they make money in trading. what they do is they lend money to other banks that need it, then charge them interest. also they charge you guys interest in loans then they give you just a little bit back for keeping your money there. all banks make a ton of money. thats why they're banks and thats why we keep our money there


  2. Hi - bank notes are printed at Debden in Essex- you can see the factory from the Central Line of London Underground and coins are made in Llantrisant, in Wales (known locally as the hole with the mint).

    They don't publish lots of figures, but it appears to be a 24/7 operation.

    Incidentally, both places make notes and coins for many other countries, too, so they're quite profitable operations for the UK!
