Does the bird, the Robin only live in America ?

I though i saw a robin in the movie The Sound of Music !

  1. The American Robin (with a few exceptions in Canada) only lives in America. But there are plenty of different types of Robins all over the world.


  2. I believe the American Robin is only in north America, with maybe some Canadian roosts. They stay around in winter, and don't migrate as much like other birds do. You might have seen a similar bird, there are a few others with dark plumage and red chests out there like the American Robin.

    The American Robin is actually a member of the thrush family "Turdis" is also known as "Turdis migratorius" and is native to the North American continent from north of the Artic circle and into lower Mexico.

    It got it's name of Robin because it reminded the early settlers of the Robin of their native Europe.

    It is very possible that you did see one.
