dont have to be change at all but is smarter to have clean and fresh.. it does get old and it gets dirt in the system...but then again ive been driving over 30 yrs and ive never had any brake fluid change

NO NO NO only if you are having brake problems ,then you might want to change it other wise let ride.

Yes, because BF absorbs moisture (like fog) out of the air and the brake lines are made of steel and to prevent the lines from rusting from the inside(due to the water in the lines) be safe and flush out the old fluid(which will have turned black -from clear - by this time)  Not just in VW's.  It is asked of all cars.

I'm not sure if it's a requirement by VW but it's definitely not a bad idea. Brake fluid deteriorates over time with air and moisture getting into the lines and turns acidic. Then it eats away at the seals and brake lines. Brake fluid is much cheaper to replace than brake lines so if you feel like being pro-active go for it.

ok read your owners manuel if it says to do it that's the book no one reads it a reference to keep your investment safe brake fluid does not become acidic it becomes hydrogenated it is hygroscopic fluid from being alcohol base it absorbs atmospheric moisture so two years is rec by most manufactures to save Master  cylinder calipers brake hoses wheel cylinder and steel brake lines and stop brake fade from heavy braking causing boiling

Actaully it's every 20,000 miles.

But basically it's a liquid sponge that absorbs moisture from the braking system.  When the fliud reaches it's saturation point and no longer absorbs water then corrosion starts happening inside the system.

Back in the day you used to tell people every 2 years, but volkswagen says every 20,000.  Which is basically 2 years for the average driver.
