Does the brand name of the snowboard matter?

I was up on the mountain the other day taking some snowboarding lessons (2nd class) and i noticed all the different brand names there are for snowboards. I saw nitro, k2, roxy, sims, lamar, ltd, fourum, ride, gnu and alot of Burton. I kinda figured burton is the best loved brand. I was wondering if anybody even notices the brands of the other ppl's boards. Let's say if u see someone with a cheap snowboard would you think the person got the board to be cool or wants to immitate a snowboarder or ppl just won't care? I know this is a silly thing to ask but here i was bored and it just got me thinking.

  1. it dosent matter at all, its the rider, not the ride =/

  2. Everyone has their own budget.  At least the person with the "cheap" board is out there riding and not sitting at home dreaming about it.  Brand doesn't really matter.  Some of the well known and widely used brands that are not on your list are: Rome, Sapient, Lib Tech, Option.  There are more...

  3. well it doesnt really matter except some k2 boards have different kinds of foot binding like ur foot is raised higher then normal so one difference is the binding bbut also people buy what kolors they like so if k2 doesnt have a pattern someone else will

  4. ummm.... well, usually if a person has a really cheap board, they probably just wanted to see if they liked the sport before they go all-out and buy a really expensive one... but the brand matters somewhat, every brand kinda has a different vibe to it, but it really just deppends on the board the persons riding.
