  1. Wow, a boat with 50 hores, what more could a man want. Maybe a couple of packs of beer.

I think you are saying the engine has an after market cavitation plate on it to make it plane quicker, but you are having trouble keeping the boat going straight.

If this is what you are saying, the cavitation plate must be below the keel to work properly. If it is above the keel, it will ride on the wake and air bubbles created by the back edge of the boat, which will cause side ways motions as the wake and air bubbles randomly change.

If the cavitation plate is below the keel, check the skag on the bottom of the engine and insure it is adjusted properly for the torque produced by the prop. Next adjust the trim so the boat is riding level on top of the water.

  2. If your talking about the cavitation plate of the engine> It need to be even or just above the bottom> If it has a keel than you will have to adj the height per running the boat> If it sprays water up and the plate is under the water on plane than raise the engine up till it run just above the water> And with no cavitation>

  3. if the hydrofoil was on there when you acquired the boat, take it off, get the engine set up correctly, then reinstall it if you really need it.

"chiming", you mean "chine walking", usually only happens on a performance hull ("pad-v") at upwards of 65 MPH.

When the boat's on plane the hydrofoil should be pretty much out of the water.  I suspect that your problems will end when you remove it.

Put the engine where the antiventilation plate is 1 to 2 inches higher than the keel.

  4. what??!?!?!?!?
