Does the chief always point out a rare item in Virtual Villagers 3?

I am at the end of the game and need 1 more collectible. I find that either he's/she's not always pointing out an item OR I don't see it most of the time. I know that coral things are found in/near the water. I know that turtle shells are near the waterfall. I know that the tablets are found near the cave/rubble. I know that feathers show up where-ever. I'm looking for the last feather. Does the chief's pointing have anything to do with where the item is? (I haven't been keeping track.)

  1. I had the same problem when I was trying to finish my collections.  Sometimes, it seemed like he didn't point one out.  I don't know if I missed them or if they were just hidden well.  I did find just a little bit of a feather sticking out from behind a tree once, so that made me wonder if sometimes the trees blocked my view from finding feathers.  I never saw a pattern to the chief's pointing and the item's location.  Here are a few things I did to help, though.  Good luck!

    1. Before I dropped the chief at the top of the path to point out a collectible, I would drop him on the circle next to where the robe goes so that he "lectures" the tribe.  This draws all the villagers to the circle, so you don't have to try to find the collectible with villagers scattered about the screen blocking your view.  Once they all start running to the circle, then I put the chief at the top of the path.

    2. After the chief finishes his pointing out collectible routine, I paused the game so the villagers didn't start running around again and I can look for the collectible before it disappears.

    3. If I didn't get the collectible I wanted, instead of waiting a whole 24 hours until the chief would find a collectible again, I would hit Ctrl Alt Del and bring up the task manager and then close virtual villagers from there.
