  1. No border at all, Paris has grown from a small medieval cultural and cosmopolitan centre 200years ago into a huge urbanity which will need around 2hours by car with no traffic jam to cross it, the old stonewalls around the inner centre are long gone

  2. The city of Paris consists of the 20 arrondissements located within the the Peripherique, a road which more or less follows the route of the old city walls.

The city government is centered on the Hotel de Ville and the office of the Mayor of Paris. The unified city government and the office of Mayor have only recently been revived in 1977 after having been disbanded in 1794.

  3. it depends what you talking about... of course there is a limit to Paris and thats everywhere outside the 20 arrondissements....so anything within the peripherique is Paris and everyting outside insn't.........also on the metro, zone1 is Paris and outside of Paris limit is zone2/3/4 with a few exceptions. many people called the suburbs Paris too....but in fact it's the ILE DE FRANCE which is the name for Paris with all its suburbs.

  4. The arrondissements are numbered. It means district.

The only border, per se, is how good is your French? And how big is your smile?

Get a box of Banania. It is chocolate powder with dried banana. Enjoy it, you cannot get it in the US. Get up early and have the freshest croissants in your life.

If you are taking the TGV get your pass validated early in the morning the day you first use it. The lines at the station are an hour long. The fine for jumping on without validating at the station (20 years ago) was $5 (at their exchange rate!!!)

But the penalty for waiting in a line too long is missing the train. Take your pick.

    MOST IMPORTANT, almost forgot.

Get customs to stamp your passport. They try to get you to go through without it so that all your TAX FREE, DUTY FREE purchase money stays in France with no refund check in the mail.

Tell everyone on the plane, too.

  5. A road called La Peripherique encircles the main part of Paris.  Outside this road are the suburbs like Gentilly and Charles de Gaulle Airport.
