  2. almost all the cities have "sisters"

you can find it in wikipedia

  4. Is this what we in Europe would call twin towns?

I always believed that the idea was to find a twin town which had points in common with one's own until I happened to live in a Tanzanian town which was many miles from the sea and known for its proximity to the game parks and which had recently been twinned with a glamorous town on the French Riviera, which was very different in character. A party of dignitaries came over from France and honoured me by inviting me to dinner with them. I seized the opportunity to ask Monsieur le Maire why on earth they had picked on our town, of all places in the world. He leaned towards me confidentially and told me of how he and many of his friends and neighbours had always fancied the idea of visiting the game parks and how this would provide the ideal opportunity. This opened my eyes. Every twinning seems to be somebody's idea of a good tourist opportunity  - ideally at public expense!

Our permanent home (to which we look forward to returning)  is in a suburb of London which is twinned with a very similar suburb of Paris and by a strange coincidence, I once lived in a neighbouring suburb of Paris. In this instance, at least, I can see that they have much in common.

  5. Where do you live in? Where were you born at?

A time ago I've heared about this sister cities, but I must forgot that 'cause it wasn't in my mind for a long time.

This twinning of the cities is kinda interesting, but I still have some doubts. My city has aparentely 33 sister cities, but there are some in which I can hardly find something simmilar. Which are the parameters to judge if two cities are alike? I don't think that Mexico City could have something simmilar to Malmö or Stuttgart, instead these are cities and have people... a language... troubles and issues... I don't know... seems .. inexact or something to me.

    Anyway, it's a funny question.
