Does the color of your skin really matter when it comes to picking the color of clothing?

Someone made a comment on me being dark so a particular color may not be good for me. That is quite bizarre in my opinion. Any other comments or opinions?

  1. Just wear what you want. Skin color shouldn't matter.

  2. Well if your skin is very dark like almost literally black, I wouldn't wear hot pink.  I think any one of any color can make anything type of clothing look good if you wear it right.  Certain colors look better on darker skin tones than on light and vice versa.

  3. It does for me. My mom is asian and even though I don't really look that asian I still have yellow undertones. I look really sickly in yellows, greens and oranges. I have light skin and dark hair so I try to wear red, black, pink and blue because they look really good with my coloration. If you have dark brown skin then practically any color should look good on you except maybe pastels. Bright and dark colors would be best.

  4. Yes! I think it definitely matters.  I think if you start paying a little more attention to it, you will start to notice that certain colors just look better on you than others. For instance, I think aqua (a light blue-ish/green color) is my best color. Also, pink, lavender, yellow, certain greens are also usually good for me - doesn't mean I don't wear other colors, but some colors are just not that great on me --  like red -- SOME shades of red are okay, but others just don't look so hot on me. So, if you're dark,  then brighter colors probably look great on you as well as white and some pastel shades.... play around with different colors and you will find the ones that really look great against your skin and make you look your best!

  5. the skin definitely matters a lot. contradictorily to what people think, that light colour makes your skin colour look darker, and dark colour makes your skin look lighter. i believe its the other way round, dark coloured clothes actually make you look darker. Blue is the skin enhancer, especially the lighter shades of it, so if you want to highlight your complexion and want people to notice it, go for something in blue. but any colour would go with any skin as long as its the right shade and is balanced out with some other contrasting shades that you wear with it.

  6. yes, there are some colors that do not suit some skin colors

it does not mean that u do not have to wear them at all but it is better to wear colors that goes well with ur skin.

i can not think of a particular color but u have to try the color on u and see if it is nice on u or it is kind of look weired.

  7. i don't think it really matters, but there's always a color that goes good with a certain person, like me sence i'm white and my cheecks are usually pink, they say that the color pink goes good with me, but it all depends on the exact color and the exact skin color u have, i  still say that no matter ur skin color u can wear anything you want.

  8. It absolutely does.  For example my friend is really white and she looks horrible in yellow and salmon colors.  I have darker skin and I get alot of compliments when I wear teal or fushia colors.  Some colors just make people looked washed out and more pale than they really are.  Being that you have darker skin there are a lot more colors that will compliment your skin tone, your lucky!
