  1. Not really,

In the days of British Railways commuters used to commute about 5 miles. Now some commute from York to London, try doing that in the 1950's

Also, the population and people gettnig to large city centres is much higher than it used to used in BR days.

commuting is not a great experience, but i doubt it was pre-denationalisation either, peoples expectations are higher today.

  2. don't know, just need points!!!!!!!!!

  3. I hate commuters. They are rude, unhelpful and inconsiderate.

  4. No. Many commuters have new trains with higher seating capacity; there are less infrastructure breakdowns than under British Rail, though there is still room for improvement in that area, and most commuter lines have a more frequent service.

However, whether the railways have really been de nationalised is a moot point. The actual trains are operated by private companies, but the government's Department of Transport controls the operational practices including timetables, purchase of new trains etc

  5. The amount of suffering is pretty much the same, Now its just more expensive.

  6. Yes and the consumer suffers because of privatisation of all the utilities!!
