Does the conduction velocity increase with increased stimulus intensity?

If a person is tapped lightly on his achilles tendon, then tapped heavily at the same spot, is there a faster response? Does it take shorter to elicit a response with an increased stimulus intensity or is it the same?

  1. No.  The conduction velocity is dependent on the diameter of an axon or dendrite and the degree to which it is coated with myelin.

These do not change with stimulus intensity.

Stimulus intensity increases may increase the frequency of the action potentials in a given neuron.  It may also increase the number of axons that are firing in response to the stimulus.
