Question:

Does the contents of a file show up in an email message?

My writing group does not want our stories to go through emails, so we set up a Yahoo group and set it up for members only. My question is...If the stories are posted as messages, they will be sent in emails (story and all) if that is how the members have their accounts set up. But if we post our stories under "files" will they get a message stating a new file has been set up, but they have to sign into the group page to be able to read it. Or will it show the file & story in their email? Thanks...

  1. if the person who created the file check the box to notify the group, all members will get an e-mail with a link in it that directs you to that file, along with the title of that file- only a member will be able to access that file via the link. if I clicked on that link, I'd get a join this group page, or 'you're not a member'.

  2. When the new file is created there will be a line to select if a New File Notification is to be sent out to members.  If that is selected, a "New File" notification will be sent to members via email. The file and story will not be included in that email.  The members will have to sign in to the group in order to open the file and ready the story.
