Does the cop who wrote you the ticket come to court for a mitigation hearing?

i was given: negligent driving 2nd gedree yesterday and i was wondering if the officer who pulled me over will show up for the mitigation hearing

  1. Officers do not have to show up to any court date. It is a myth that the ticket will be immediately dismissed if they are not there. The only time officers are even notified about a court date is if the defendant pleads not guilty. If the officer does not make it to the court date then the defendant still has to make the judge decide against the written comments on the citation.


  2. Depends on where you live.  My city has an officer who handles all of the court proceedings.  He speaks with the cop before hand and has all the notes.  He does the representation in court so the police aren't all there for different cases.

  4. yes he will show up if you fight the charge. if he dont you will win the case for lack of evidene
