  1. As the others said yes it does. Although the second person refered to purple as the Hottest, a new study has shown that the hottest fire known to man is actully BLACK!

  2. In part. The opaque, glowing part of the flame is usually illuminated by black-body radiation from soot particles, so redder = cooler. But a flame can also be colored by spectral emissions. This is the case with the clear blue portion of many flames.

  3. yes.

  4. The wavelength of light is related to temperature. Light with longer wavelenths (redder) have a lower temperature, and light with shorter wavelenths (bluer) have higher temperature. The shorter the wavelenth the more energy it has. If you look at a flame and see that the lowest part is blue that means it is the hottest part of that flame.

  5. yes, darker = hotter

    orange = coolest (relative of course)

    red = hotter

    purple = hottest!

  6. to simply answer your question yes.

    Blue indicates a very hot temperature while orange/yellow is less hot.
