Question:

Does the economy affect what you tip?

I am a waitress and with the economy going downhill, people seem to tip less when they dine out. Many people who depend on tips for incomes (hairdressers, bartenders, etc.) are struggling to make money....Maybe its gas prices or inflation? Maybe they cannot afford to eat out? Do you still tip 15% to 20%? Just a question I want to hear opinions on.

  1. I tip 10 -20%  depending on the service I receive. If really bad service 0%.  Times are tough for everyone. I will still tip good if it is deserved. That is just what is people have coming to them for what they deserve, it is my obligation. Just like I expect a certain amt. and get a set amt. for the quality of work I do.
