Does the excess insurance from the National Alliance for Youth sports cover you in the event of an accident?

This policy is given when you complete an online course. $1million excess insurance. Our organizer is touting this as a viable insurance our coaches should have. Now the organization does not have any other policy, only what the players may have for health insurance. I am not interested in risking my home, etc. to a lawsuit if I am not properly covered. We are volunteer coaches and just needing a bit more info on what would be covered under that. I am suspicious because the course only costs $25 and then you are covered by this Excess Insurance of 1 million. I thought an Umbrella policy only came into play in addition to other primary insurance coverage. Basically this seems too cheap to be proper coverage. I appreciate any information I can get. Thanks!

  1. What KIND of "excess insurance"?  Normally, that would mean an umbrella liability policy, and normally, you'd have to SUE the association, and show they were somehow the cause of the injury.

Sorry, your question is WAY too vague.
