Does the exercise from biking eight miles to work each day get canceled out by the smog and fumes I inhale?

  1. lol NO.  Although the smog is bad for you, the benefits from biking 16 miles a day to your heart and cardiovascular system  can't be canceled out by inhaling NORMAL amounts of pollution.


  2. No, unless you have bad asthma or such, it shouldn't be a problem.

  3. Nope, from your biking you are burning calories which are converted to energy as you exercise.  The smog and fumes affect your respiratory system/mucus membranes.

  4. If more people would bike to work, there wouldn't be so much smog and fumes.  You would be inhaling all that stuff even if you were in a car, so I don't think it makes much difference.  You'll still be healthier than someone who drives to work.
