Question:

Does the fact that a work at home business is in a national newspaper mean that it's legitimate?

I live in Australia and because I'm starting uni next year, I need some money for covering my fees, a flat, living costs...Paid surveys and Emailcash take forever to earn enough money, and because I'm starting work so late nobody will hire me.

I found some work at home businesses in the Herald Sun and the local paper, and I figure that for the businesses to advertise in there, they must be legitimate because the paper would have had to have checked it out. Am I thinking right? In America there's the BBB, but I'm not sure if we have anything like that here - how can I check if a business is going to rip me off? Thanks for your help!

  1. Buyer beware - work at home businesses are usually a scam.

  2. No, the newspaper do not check whether the business is legit or not, it is a risk you are taking

  3. No - all it means is, hopefully, that it is legal.  be warned there are VERY few genuine home working opportunities that pay more than a pittance!

  4. Newspapers do not investigate their advertisers.  An ad in a newspaper is no guarantee of legitimacy.  Most work at home offers are scams unfortunately.
