Bought a Ninja 500 Used and just realized the brake light doesn't turn on when I press the foot brake (hand brake does, & both brakes work).

  1. Yes. Bad sensor connection

  2. You probably have a bad rear brake light switch (most likely)or a wiring problem.Find the plug to the switch unplug it and stick a jumper wire in the pin sockets with the key on.If it lights the brake light it's a bad switch.If not it's in the harness.

  3. Yes it should turn on the brake light............UJN

  4. There is a sensor on the brake pedal, look for it and try to not suid out on this bike.

  5. Like Magz said, it might just need to be adjusted.

    The brake pedal pulls a spring that is connected to the rear brake light switch.

    The spring pulls a rod out of the switch, which turns on the light.

    Pull on the rod by hand - if the brake light comes on, adjust the switch - turn the large plastic nut.

    If the light doesn't come on, the switch is either unplugged or defective - further testing is required.

  6. It must turn on the brake light

    check;

    1 the bulb, in place or broken?

    2 wires may have been cut out,

    3 brake sensor is out of order

    you had better get it fixed soon if you can not fix it by yourself, the vechile driven behind you may not realize that you are slowing down.

  7. yes, the switch might need adjusted...
