  1. it's called osmosis I think, if you want to get technical.

    put a grape in salt water, it shrivels because it's trying to find a balance with the freshwater/salt water ratio.

    same thing, only with alcohol.

  2. Yeah. Like when fruit is soaked in vodka the water and sugar of the fruit comes out of it and the alcohol goes in. So that the fruit is alcoholic and the liquid like a fruit juice-maybe still with a little alcohol. It is some sort of equilibrium thing.

  4. It absorbs some of the alcohol, yes... but if you're asking whether or not it magically makes the drink itself less alcoholic, no, it doesn't.
