Does the government have any hand in 401k's at all. They do in Social Security. Do they have a grip on 401K?

The government has robbed us generation X'ers of all social security. We will never get it.

Does the government have any grip or hand in 401k's at all? Can they borrow off your 401k's as they did social security?

  1. The way the law is now, no they cannot.  But I guess they can change the law if enough Congressmen and Senators want to do so. Social Security has always been a government program. 401Ks are private.  The only way the government is involved is by granting special tax treatment.  They also have laws against fraud by people running 401K plans.


  2. no, they can't. They can only tax you on it after you start collecting it.
