Does the hair behind the hamster ears mean anything?

WelL i had got my hamster from petsmart. And noticed you could see the skin behind the ear. As of now It has filled in with new hair. Does this mean anything about there health? I know one guy said something about there age and they lose hair. But Im just wondering if this has to do with there health
