Question:

Does the heart have a memory

Do you think that if blind people received a heart transplant, they would be able perhaps to visualise something in their mind. In other words, do you think that the heart is just a pump or could it be more than that?

Just a random thought.

  1. I think you have to be specific about what you are really asking. Blindness depends on several factors. If blindness occurs at the later years of a person, that person definitely could really visualize something in his mind. Less likely however if blindness is congenital on the other hand. Biologically, the heart is no more than a pumping organ that aids in circulating blood all over the body, since composed mainly of cardiac muscles, think about that: *muscles* mostly for work: for pumping basically. The main organ in the nervous system still sits on its throne as the organ capable of processing.

  2. no

  3. No, however there are certain organs such as the liver which its cells have a special type/form of cell memory.

  4. No. the Heart is an organ which  pumps blood and receive bloods. nothing more.

  5. heart is intended only for pumping, circulating the blood and enables us to live....But doesn't have any memory because it is the brain who controls it...

  6. emm i dont think so . i dont think the heart has anything to do with memory. memory can only be controlled by the brain

  7. i remember reading some time ago an article that reported that some people who received heart transplant actually gained vague memory of events that the donor experienced. there's also been reports of transplant patients changing their personalities. but so far the evidence is not very strong.
