Does the human race have one or more fatal flaws that will inevitable lead to our ultimate extinction?

Many species have flourished and died out, unable to adjust to evironmental changes, etc.. On our planet extinction seems as much a possibility as survival. And the human race's ability to be self-destructive has dramatically increased since the invention of nuclear weapons and french fries.

Suppose sometime in the future, some alien race discovers that we once thrived, but thrive no more (reminds me of a Speilberg movie).

In any event the alien race determines that we Could Have Survived, but we didn't!!!

It is a lot of speculation, but if true, the question is what are we missing? Or what quality did we lack that we needed to survive?

  1. If we become extinct I don't think it will be due to us, but due to nature. We are smart enough to learn how to adapt to situations. If a giant war breaks out someone has to win and thus someone will survive. If global warming is happening we'll find a way to survive it. We are already aware of the possibility and some of us are trying to help the situation.

What could be the end of us is a big natural disaster. Any natural disater that doesn't give us enough time to adapt. If something suddenly occurs and changes the atmosphere or climate within a matter of days or weeks or maybe even months it would be hard to survive.

  2. We lack humility not only as a nation, a continent, a world but individually we are proud and selfish,.........it is all about me me me and never about others.

  3. Consideration for others.

  4. i think problem is,everywhere, u have people trying to play god. every single time i turn on the tv, i see someone messing with this or s******g around with the ozone layer or some c**p. whats going to happen is, mother nature is going to get really tired of people messin with her and "The day after tommorrow "will really come true.

  5. Unlike some animals and plants, men will not be extinct, because of its capacity to survive all destructions and

trepidations that happens in the world. How many wars

and catastrophies befell men since they become inhabitants

of the earth we live in. Instead of diminishing they still flourish.

Men has the instinct to survive and the only way that could

lead to its extinction is if the world would banish from the

    our solar system.

  6. the fact that since we have removed ourselves from nature, we feel we no longer need it to survive.  We are destroying the world, which is our home, and if things continue at the rate it is going we won't be around for much longer.

  7. No.  Humans are incredibly adaptable to any environment.

Even 10,000 years ago humans inhabited every region of the planet earth.
