  1. In testing they haven't but if they ever do it will cost $3000+ to replace.

  2. Probably not in the time you own the vehicle.  Many here say they never need to be replaced.   I disagree with that.  If a component of the batteries is lead or nickle, it indeed has a life span, even if cars like the Prius limit the extend of charge or discharge.  If the storage device were an ultracapacitor (not in cars yet), the lifecycles would outlast the car 10 times over.  I would guess when these cars hit 10 years old, you will see a fair number needing replacement battery packs.

  3. I heard with every kind of battery it needs replacing every twelve or so years and i'm not to sure but apparently there is a place that you can exchange them for new ones. But  as i said i'm not to sure.

  4. No they do not. Because the amount of charge and discharge is very carefully controlled the batteries can withstand many thousands of charge cycles. Currently there a Prius's being used for taxis that have well in excess of 200,000 miles on the original batteries.

I own a Prius and mine has 126,000 miles on it so far. My last tank of gas I got 52 mpg. So the batteries are still performing just as if brand new.

A new Prius comes with a 150,000 mile warranty on the batteries and Toyota says the batteries are expected to last the life of the car. So far all evidence indicates they are correct.

  5. so far when it comes to batteries there hasnt been one made that dont need replacing. and to be honest there never will be one. everything on this planet no matter if its made by man or nature has a "life span" everything buried in the ground eventually will be gone eventually. plastic ;metal; styrofoam cups etc... eventually will vanish back into the soil. even the rechargeable batteries ppl use in something like a flashlite which is very close to the kind in hybrid cars. even these loose their effectiveness. now how often they gotta be replaced dont know i dont have a hybrid car and since they havent been out for to long then its hard to say how often

  6. It is unlikely that the batteries in most hybrid cars would need to be changed.  They are built to last.  If you decide to buy a hybrid, ask about replacement batteries.  You might even want to see if it is feasible to buy a spare battery to keep in case the old one quit or malfunctioned, but the need is not greatly likely.

  7. well u don't have to change batteries at all until it dies....like in  Toyota prius they give u 600000(it might be lower but they please check your local toyota dealer) give warrenty  miles warrenty on battery  but after that it wont just die, if u take care of it, it will last forever.
