I'm gunna buy one, but for my purposes and lack of moolah ($$$) I only want to use it a "touch." Anyone know if you need a 2 year agreement to buy one or use it??

  1. Yes. In-store activation is required...just like you can't walk out of the store with a Blackberry. The first iPhone was just special where you activated it at home.

But because AT&T is paying Apple $425 for each iPhone 3G and selling it to you for $199...AT&T's gonna be darn sure that you're in a contract to make up for the price difference.

  2. You need to get a two year plan to activate it.
