Does the individual and separate occurance of advanced civilizations lend to Jung's synchronicity theory?

how about the regional model of evolution or other anthropological ideas? One could argue that ceramics and stratified socities are inevitable, but why did they occur at generally the same time in different areas? Is this Jung's synchronicity at work or coincidence?

  1. Coincidence. Jung, though a good man, was mistaken enough to think that human evolved heritage in the here and now was just an archetype of an ancient time past.

  2. Absolutely, there are no coincidences.  Although there are differences in ancient civilizations and the similarities may be explained away as functionality or inevitable (clay hardening in the sun is an obvious observation toward pottery, pyramids are the most stable structures, etc.), the timing is uncanny.  Agriculture pops up independent in many areas at almost the same time, along with ceramics and certain tools.
