Does the intercooler for the xbox 360 really work?

Our XBox 360 had an intercooler on it, and when it eventually got the red rings of death, Microsoft replaced the XBox as usual. We've had no problems with it on our new model, and the machine never shuts itself off to cool down. The straight dope: Yes, it works. Yes, it is effective. I have had no experience with the thing overheating, scorching the casing, or having Microsoft reject our repair because of it.

No and will void your warranty since a lot cause the 360 to overheat and leave scorch marks which MS can identify and then they won't fix it for free. The best thing to do is get a regular fan and point it towards your console. Also try to keep your 360 in a well ventilated area and off of the floor.

If by work you mean melting into your console so it can never be removed, then yes it works
