Does the magic phone jack really work?

I am thinking about buying but what to know if its worth it.

It works really well, actually. My brothers wife gave it to her mother and it's great. Her mother lives in China, and since you can call the US on that phone cheap, it works really well.

It's really worth it!!!!

yes....its a good deal....if that's what you want....you can call anyone for free in the US and Canada for free....land line or cellphone!! I have one for over 1 year now and love it!

you just put the MagicJack into your USB port and use any old analog phone and make calls....!

the MJ software install when you put the MJ n your USB post....with the software and also a softfone if you wanna use it !

I use it since last year, and so far I love it! but you gotta know what you really want out of this gizmo! I use it strictly for travel and as a 2nd line in my house!

Don't expect too much from MagicJack....its not a phone service per se.....!

I had no problems installing it...matter-of-fact ....the install was faster and much more easier then my other VoIP service!

Land Phones its really easy to use....like a VoIP service (Internet phone)

but you computer got to be on at all times for it to work!!

You gotta download their software....but its very easy and you don't need to do nothing else...! I have it since last year...! so far I love it...I take it on vacation to other countries so I can call back for free with an US area code! Make sure you use another user account and not the admin account...also if you have trouble...check your device manager....don't do your iPot stuff at the same time...!

all you get is the Magic Jack...the rest you learn on your on, or at the MJ forum!

You will be up and running within 5 minutes....you can ask here questions when you get it going!! There are alot of little things you have to know........for it to work just right!!

the most important thing with the MJ...it all depends on your ISP provider....! I use other VoIP on my computer, but the MJ was the easiest to install...

It really does seem TOO good to be true, doesn't it? lol

Mine works great, although you want to avoid downloading any huge file(s) while you are talking on your pc at same time.

I did NOT know this when I installed mine, but it needs to be installed to a regular user account (typical for most people).  I gather, if somebody tries to set it up under that computer's ADMIN account, they can run into problems.  The MJ online chat staff evidently didn't even know this for a long time (and maybe STILL don't yet).

Personally, I think it's humorous how some people who ran into this very issue have bashed MJ as a ripoff or even a SCAM.  If they had set it up under a user account and it worked, they'd be singing its praises like almost everybody else.  But, since they did something atypical, it's terrible?  Right!

But, in their defense, there's no mention of this at all in the package you get when you buy one.  Maybe there should be, but they probably want to keep it simple I guess.  You DO want to plug your phone line into the MJ first, then plug that into your pc.  I suppose if you plug the MJ into your pc first, maybe it won't know what type of phone you'll be using and cause a problem.  But, it comes with a money-back deal too!

That web site has photos of the install process and suggests you take your time choosing which area code to use if yours is not offered.  Mine wasn't and I was kind of in a hurry there.

It also has links to try to find some discount coupon codes.  I did not know about THAT (but wish I had)!  Save anywhere from $2.00 to $6.95 (IF you get lucky).  Worth looking into...

We have digital phone service through ACN that offers VOIP on their own network. I don't know much about the majic jack until recently someone tried to sell me one.

I love my ACN video phone with digital phone service that allows us to see the other person we are talking to like- parents that are far away. The video phone is currently FREE through an ACN Ind. Rep.
