does the mayan calendar correlate with mental changes in humans? like for instance, there are 7 cycles and we are in the fifth?.. do the cycles before in the past match up with an actual evolution of the mind in terms of when we as primative humans went from one cycle calendar to another?

  1. I believe there is a correlation, yes. Many religions have this particular belief, on the differing ages...such as Hinduism. Think about this, though...can't you feel things changing? Can't you feel that things are going to happen?? I certainly do.

  2. Fascinating answers and yes there seems to be a disturbing correlation given our current events but I find it hard to believe that a population of literally, self sacrificing,if mathematically gifted, head hunters whose language we cannot even read with any degree of certainty really had the answers to all that we wish to know.

  3. Being that the Mayan calendar is based on the moon and the Gregorian (western) calendar is solar, there are discrepancies in the rhythms of both so an exact answer is hard.

However, the burden of going through the cycles is on the humans, thus it is up to the humans and not the stars the duration of each of its evolutionary cycles.

As a humanity we evolved in the 19th an 20th centuries from an infantile way of thinking into adolescence. We are as a species in our teen years, the next change will be a young maturity, guided primarily by feminine standards and still burdened by our biggest challenge. Identity.

Until we figure out individually who we are then we can collectively solve our problems, we need to learn to love diversity rather than just tolerate it. The minute we discover that we all share the same questions, rather than competing to see who's right we will learn from the experiences of others. This is when we will start to find common solutions to the most important problems.

  4. Here is one current example where the Mayan Calendar was used to forecast an economic outlook based on what the calendar predicted about human consciousness.

By knowing that our conscious mind works in cycles, the Mayan calendar was used to predicted the collapse of the monetary system (paper money) we are experiencing today.   The Mayan Calendar predicted that our minds would begin to shift from Left-side thinking to Right-side.  The Right-side of our brains does not fully grasp the concept of value in abstract things like paper money, but rather prefers more concrete things like gold.

"... Regardless of the forms that such a collapse may take, it seems that the best bet is for it to occur close to the time that the 'Fifth Night' begins, in November 2007. What is absolutely clear from the foregoing is that the economic cycles will proceed in phase with the Mayan Calendar."

    Last EDITED 6-11-08:

The Evolution of Consciousness cycles will repeat nine times in the course of time in ever decreasing periods of time, From the "Big Bang" until Dec. 21, 2012.  Here are several "initiating phenomena" from the past seven of nine cycles:  Industrialism (1769), Written language (3100 BC), Spoken language (100,000 yrs), First humans (2 million yrs), First monkeys (40 million yrs), First animals (850 million yrs), Matter 'Big Bang' (14-16 billion yrs).

Each of the nine "Underworld" cycles in turn repeat seven "day" and six "night" cycles of different ruling deities.  And yes, we are currently in the fifth night (god of darkness) of the "Galactic Underworld".   On the fifth night of the previous cycle "Planetary Underworld" (1769 to 1999 ) we had World War One (1914 - 1919).  It would be interesting to research what happened on the fifth night of still another period earlier: During the "National Underworld" Cycle, the fifth night would coincide with about the time of Christ:  Any Ideas as to what happened then?

  5. No.

The Mayan calendar is "in" or new agers as it supposedly ends on 21 December 2012. What will happen is open to, eh, "interpretation." One example:

"Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End. Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine" in The Revolution of 2012: Vol. 1, The Preparation. In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness," assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use."

    Skeptics response:

"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in."

Pick a number between 1 and 10. For the next few days watch as it comes up again and again. This is a form of a self-for filling prophecy. If you look for patterns in something you'll no doubt find some. To make it sound better, ignore all the times the number doesn't appear and patterns don't show up.

If you believe the Mayan Calendar has some cycles that affect you, by gosh it will. Otherwise it won't

Here's my psychic prediction: On 22 December 2012 the world will still be the same. The interest in the Mayan calendar will be replaced by some other prediction, phenomena, impending disaster or whatnot.
