Does the microwave use alot of electricity? Or cost alot?

i use it at my house like 5 times a day...can that add up and get expensive on my electric bill?

  1. A common microwave averages about 1000 watts of power but this is done in short bursts, without the large capacitors in them like they have today you would be pulling an amazing amount of surge current (closer to 2000 Watts or the 20 Amps) during normal use you can assume you are pushing at least 10 Amps or the equivelent of 2 vacuum cleaners being ran simultaneously.  Chances are because consumption is cumulative (for the power company at least) you spend more money lighting your home then cooking those raiman noodles.


  2. Yes it does. Check your local power company. They usually have a website that computes power consumption of most common household appliances so that you can estimate your monthly electricity bill.
