Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away this morning. She was the widow of an Air Force Officer who had served in Vietnam and passed away as a direct result of his injuries received in Vietnam in 1977. My question is does the military help pay for the funeral of veterans widows? And if so, whom would we need to contact?

  1. http://www.cem.va.gov/cem/bbene/eligible...

Call this number on this website.  Go down to letter G.  It explains about spouses.  It's best that you call and explain and hopefully they will be able to point you in the right direction.  Good luck.  I'm sorry for your lose.

  2. Sorry no.

Also Social Security only pays their death benefit to surviving spouses.

  3. No, the government has no contract with this person. Social security will pay about $266.00, if she is on the plan.

  4. Don't know the answer to your question just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss.
