Does the name Arne Eriksson or Whilhelm Hohnberg mean anything to anyone?

This man is my Grandfather. I have a fair bit of information on him but thought that I would put the question out there to see if this name means anything to somebody.

Thank you.

  1. (I like your name.. grin)

99% of the time, persons here in yahoo answers will not know your person.. we simply run the question through different sources we may have (or background knowledge).

Is grandpa European? with two names, and being a grandfather, perhaps you have some curiosity regarding why there are two names. It occurs to me that perhaps this may be related to WW2, for some reason.  That was a hard time for many people, obviously.

You can, if you like, edit your question for some specifics. Or repost.  Overall.. the first thing would be to evaluate how much solid documentation you have, and what the records suggest.  It helps if we have some ideas as to what you are looking for..or perhaps suspect?

    edit-\

research both names as if the other did not exist.  If the name change was done through the courts.. see if you cannot locate and access that info.  Is it at all possible that the "new" name was in fact the original??

Keep posting here, as well to find record sources. You didn't indicate if he also died in NSW.  The 1940s is the most logical time to have had other children, if that is what happened.  Those can be tough to find or verify.. but it does happen.

  2. Is this one man with 2 names?

Did you want to see if we could find anything on Ancestry.com?

If you have access to ancestry.com then I probably can't help you much.

But I was wondering if he was a seaman serving on various ships?
