  1. Junior is used to distinguish a son with the same name as his father. The following conditions apply:

The Junior must be a son of the father, not a grandson.

The names must be exactly the same, including the middle name.

The father must still be living.

'II' is used whenever any close relative, including for example a grandfather or a great-uncle, shares the same name as the child.

  2. I don't think your son can be a Jr (legally) if his middle name is different than his father's.  My husband and I want to name our first son (when we decide to start a family someday) my husband's first name (and obviously last name) but change the middle name.  I personally don't like Jr. or Sr. or II or III.  I think it's kind of stupid.

  3. It can be a junior with a different middle name but the first and last name are the same.

  4. every junior i've met has always had the exact same first, middle, and last name. i've never met a junior with just the same first and last but different middle.

  5. My husband is a Junior and has the same first middle and last name as his dad. I'm not sure on the legalities but I think all three have to match to be a junior, or at least the first and last!

  6. I don't think they have to have the same EXACT name. As long as the first and last name are the same. I don't think any one person should be able to say how it's supposed to be, if you want to name your kid Jr. with a different middle name then do it! h**l that's what I plan on doing : ) lol

  7. Yes it has to be exact to be the junior. Then you can nickname the child if you want.

  8. To my knowledge, in order to be a Jr. or II, the son and father must have the exact whole name.  That means first, middle, and last.  I have known people who named their child after the father, but with a different middle name, and they are not considered a Jr. or II.  They simply have the same basic name.  A lot of times they use 'big' and 'little' to distinguish between the two, such as Big Johnny and Little Johnny, when they are conversing with other people.  I've seen that with both friends of mine and with family.

  9. they just have to have the same FIRST name

examples: my dads name is Manuel Rodriguez Gomez & my bros name is Manuel Gomez and they call my bro Junior

my uncles name is Jose Gomez and my cousins name is Jose Manuel Gomez and my fam calls him Junior.

so you can have a diffrent last middle name and just the same first name and last for him to be a junior

  10. You can always call him junior.  I just wouldn't include the "Jr." in his legal name.

  11. The names must be exactly the same, including the middle name.

to be a Jr or II, etc.

Junior is used to distinguish a son with the same name as his father.

    The following conditions apply:

The Junior must be a son of the father, (e.g.) not a grandson.

The names must be exactly the same, including the middle name.

The father must still be living.

The suffix (e.g. Jr) becomes part of the legal name.

If somehow, someway, an unqualified clerk actually made

the clear error of letting you put Jr on the birth certificate

where the name did not match exactly e.g. different middle name, by this mistake

they would have helped you to do something wrong to your son's name.

What a creative way for them to cause your son problems later in life.

You can prevent the problems for your son by following the rules.

I already was well-aware of this, but I looked up a couple of sources:

  12. My father's name is James Delbert Booth. My late half-brother was named James Delbert Booth, Jr. If my late half-brother had had a different middle name, he would not have been James Booth , Jr. My maternal grandfather was named Robert Oliver Dubuisson. One of his sons was named Robert Allen Dubuisson. Robert Allen Dubuisson ---or "Uncle Bob", as most of my cousins and I called him--- as far as I know, was not named "Junior".

Also, country singer Hank Williams, Jr., is not really "Hank Williams, Jr.", because his full name is Randall Hank Williams, while his father's full name was Hiram Hank Williams.  Their names were not exactly the same. Each had the same middle and last name.

  13. as long as the first and last names are the same, im pretty sure it'll work.

  14. No.  The dudes in my family are all Thomas Davis.  They all have different middle names though and those are the names they go by.  Also, when you fill out your childs birth info, it has to be the II or Junior.  You have to specify which one.  My family doesn't use any of them, they just know Thomas Davis has been passed down since...well...I don't think anyone knows.

My son has his fathers EXACT name and we used the II.
