  1. Putting aside those Ivy League schools (I'll assume your not a genius and can't get into those >.>) then what really matters is what degree(s) you got and how they can be used at that particular jobs. As well as whether your college is credible-whether the courses taken are up to standards and whatnot.

  2. Yes, many employers in all fields only hire from top colleges for their best jobs. It's not just about the ivy league schools. Few have heard of top schools like Amherst, Williams and Pomona, but employers with elite jobs know them well.

Go to the best collegfe you can get into!

  3. If you are competing with another person for the same job and both of you are somewhat of equals, the company would probably pick the person who went to Upenn over Podunk U.

  4. Yes, yes it will. Other factors are involved, but big name colleges will help your resume a bit.

  5. You can use edsoup.Just sign up. Let them find you. It's easy and free.

  6. Well, you're not going to necessarily not get picked for going to some small college, but you will have much better chances if you went to some big Ivy League school. So I guess the name only matters if it's well-known.

  7. It depends on what job, really.  For law and medical (Dr.) jobs, yes.  For jobs in politics, yes.  For entry level jobs, not really (in my opinion).  Just as long as you have a Bachelor's Degree from a reputable university, you're good.  Capability and how you sell yourself at the interview matters more at entry level.

Now, for Master's Degrees and Doctorates, the name of the college ABSOLUTELY counts.

If you are going to spend money wisely, I would say go to a state college and kick a** (great grades), then spend on a big name university for grad school.  Good luck!
