Does the new feature DTS HD MA on the ps3 effect all sound like 2.1 5.1 & 7.1 or just 7.1 surround sound?

I got the update for the new profile 2.3 and it came with DTS HD MA and i know what it is and all but i just dont know if it changes the sound to a better quality on all planes 2.1 5.1 & 7.1 or does it just effect people with 7.1 surrond?

Dolby TrueHD and DTS MasterAudio are not dependant on your speaker set up. First you have to have the right reciever whih passes HDMI 1.3, recievers that have HDMI that are not labeled TrueHD and MasterAudio may have HDMI but are usually only HDMI 1.1 and do not have the decoders. It has to decode the format and you have to have a blue ray disc (or the now defunct HDDVD) that was mastered with the PROCESS.  Most discs dont have it yet. The only one I know definately has it is Phantom of the Opera
